Network marketing is one of those business that leaves people feeling skeptical. Generally they are doubtful if the product works, or if the business is just a hoax in general, or if they will actually make money from it. Here are a few guidelines to go by in choosing the right networking company for you.
When listening to someone make a presentation of their network business, pay close attention to how they present the company to you. More often than not, if the person comes across as egotistical, chances are he or she is an amateur. The proper way to market a network business is to offer people how they can achieve their wants or needs. It is not about teaching them the business or bragging about how much one makes. It is about personal development and people skills.
Another important point to remember about a network marketing business is that money does not come from the products being sold, but from the people who make the business. The ideal mind set is not to think of how much money you can make off this person because he is your down line. Rather, how much you can help a person achieve their goals by getting them into the business.
When considering joining a network marketing business, people usually consider these six things before joining. I will explain whether or not these things hold relevant in one’s decision to join a network marketing business.
1. Product
There are many products out there that are terrible products that don’t work, yet the company makes millions from it. On the other hand, there are also revolutionary products out there, but unfortunately the company is not successful in making its money back. The bottom line is, the product being sold is not what’s entirely important.
What is important is if you believe in the product. It is also imperative that you use the product or at least like it. You have to believe in the product in order to believe in what you are marketing. Also make sure that if the product is concerning health care, that it does not make any medical claims. This will get you into trouble in the long run.
2. Executive Staff/Management
Consider the executives of the company as well when deciding on joining a network marketing business. Ask yourself, “do they really care about me? Or do they just see me as a number and a dollar sign”. Try to look for people who genuinely care and believe in people, and are not just after making a quick buck.
In any case, the executive staff is not nearly as important as your loyalty to your team. Teamwork should be the solid foundation of your business. There will be people who will try to snake you or manipulate you, but if you have a strong team, you will be backed up by them.
3. Compensation Plans
Don’t get lured into a compensation plan just because of the tempting numbers being presented to you. Also avoid trying to over analyze the compensation plan too much. Just learn enough to be familiar with the basics of how compensation works, and get moving on expanding your business! Set your goals based on what you know, and get out there and work!
4. Marketing Plan
A marketing plan is a method of how to get the products to the end user. All companies have different means of marketing their products. Pay attention to how the network business uses the representative to get the product to the end user and how they bring representatives into the business. Usually, the company should supply you with products, pay check and occasionally good customer service.
Your job is to make sure you have a marketing plan of your own in place. Marketing can be done through group presentations, one-on-one, fliers, advertising, internet, website/blogs, radio, television, infomercials, call center outsourcing, print, mass mailing or conference calls. Choose which ever method you are the best at. Always make sure that the your marketing plan is always simple and can be duplicated.
5. Leadership
Leadership is extremely crucial in a company or business. If it seems that the company you are joining has no sense of leadership, you should step up and be that leader! Sometimes leadership-less companies just need people who can drive the business for them. Leadership should be the first thing you look for when considering a networking business. The other five should just be minor factors.
Observe if the leadership of the company leads by ego (my way or the highway mentality) or if it leads by equipping. Leading by equipping is when the company acknowledges your weaknesses and equips you with their strengths. This kind of mentality means that the company actually cares about you and is willing to help you strengthen your skills in order to achieve your goals.
6. Training or Coaching Session
Try to sit down with someone experienced in the business so that they can help you outline what you are looking for in they business. They will help you discover your strengths and weaknesses and find means to improve on your weaknesses. Just one session of coaching is all you need to help you improve your skills.
Remember that the business is not about the product, but about the people you are working with. If you feel like you are not working with the right people, then go up line and you will find the right people. Compensation and executive staff/management are also not that important, because the business is really about what you are going to do given the opportunity and who you are going to help out with that opportunity.
The real purpose is to build a business that is loyal to your people. Do not compromise ethics and integrity for monetary means! You should want to step up and be a good leader and set a good example for your people. As an end result, they too will want to be good loyal leaders to their team and this good disposition will just spread downwards resulting in a successful business!
